Addressing Gender-Based Violence Annual Report 2023

RMIT

RMIT has reached a significant point of reflection in our work to prevent, and respond to, gender-based violence at the University, with the release of our Addressing Gender-Based Violence Annual Report 2023.

The report measures progress against the strategic goals set out in our Addressing Gender-Based Violence Strategic Action Plan 2023-2027 and reflects RMIT’s ongoing commitment to addressing this critical issue and the efforts we have undertaken to create safe and inclusive environments for all.

RMIT provides a people-centred, trauma-informed approach to preventing and responding to gender-based harm and we are proud of the mechanisms and mindsets we are embedding within the organisation through specialist support and expertise.

In 2023, we focused on building awareness of and connection with our support services.

As part of increasing transparency about this work, the report includes data on disclosures and formal reports of sexual harm while protecting the anonymity of victim-survivors.

We believe a rise in the number of incidents that has been reported to Safer Community demonstrates that our work to increase awareness of and connection with our support services is working.

There is no place for gender-based violence at RMIT and we’re committed to creating a safe and respectful space for our students and staff.
