Albanese Labor government delivering more homes across North West Tassie

Australian Treasury

The Albanese Labor Government is delivering more homes for Tasmanians who need them with 48 new houses nearing completion in West Ulverstone.

This project has been supported by the Albanese Labor Government’s Housing Australia with more than $9 million in funding.

The homes will be managed by Housing Choices Tasmania and are being supported by the Tasmanian Government.

The new homes are expected to be completed later this year, giving more Tasmanians a safe and affordable place to call home.

Through our Homes for Australia plan the Albanese Labor Government has committed to $32 billion in new housing initiatives.

We need to build more homes, more quickly, in all parts of Australia.

Which is why the Albanese Government has an ambitious goal of building 1.2 million homes by the end of the decade.

We’re working across Government, and with states and territories, like Tasmania, to help meet this target.

This will help to deliver more homes for home buyers, more homes for renters and more homes for Australians who need them.

The Albanese Labor Government has already provided $50 million in funding from the $2 billion Social Housing Accelerator to Tasmania, which will deliver more than 110 new social homes across the state.

Applications recently closed for the first round of funding for social and affordable homes under the $10 billion Housing Australia Future Fund and the National Housing Accord.
