Appeal After Theft Of ATM At Oxley

Police are appealing for information as investigations continue into the theft of an ATM from a motel in the state’s New England region.

Police believe two men were involved in the theft of the machine from a motel on the New England Highway at Willow Tree, near Quirindi, about 3.30am Sunday 23 June 2024.

The theft was discovered by a cleaner later that morning and the matter was reported to officers from Oxley Police District, who established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

Inquiries indicate two men removed the ATM in a blue dual-cab utility which had been parked outside.

About 1.30pm yesterday (Sunday 23 June 2024), police were notified that the ATM was found partially submerged in the Quipolly Dam, about an hour north of Willow Tree.

The machine has been seized and will be subject to forensic examination.

Strike Force Pell, comprising detectives from Oxley Police District, has been formed to investigate the theft.
