Bilya Boorn 2024 Scholarship Winner Announced

Perth (Boorloo) – The Bilya Boorn Scholarship committee is pleased to announce Paige Littlefair has been awarded the 2024 Bilya Boorn Scholarship. A selection panel, comprising The Honourable Justice Michael Lundberg, Ms Emma Garlett, and Ms Jessica Woods awarded the scholarship to Paige following an extensive review of the high calibre applications.

Paige was selected for her exceptional resilience, her active involvement in the community and her impressive academic achievements. She is currently undertaking her Bachelor of Laws at Notre Dame University. The scholarship will support her continued academic and professional endeavours. Upon being named the recipient, Paige shared her excitement:

‘I am deeply honoured to be named the 2024 recipient of the esteemed Bilya Boorn Scholarship. This presents an extraordinary opportunity which I am wholeheartedly dedicated to embracing. I extend my sincerest gratitude to both the Bilya Boorn Committee and the sponsoring firms for their generous and steadfast support.’

The panel members expressed their confidence in Paige’s potential to leverage this opportunity to further her legal studies and to sustain her positive influence within the community.

Separately, Jackson McDonald has joined the seven other firms – Allens, Clayton Utz, Clifford Chance, Herbert Smith Freehills, MinterEllison, Steinepreis Paganin and Thomson Geer – as an inaugural member of the initiative. The addition of Jackson McDonald enhances the firms’ collective effort to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

About the Scholarship

The Bilya Boorn Scholarship aims to enhance the representation and participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the legal profession in Western Australia. It offers First Nations students scholarships to pursue law degrees at Western Australian universities. The scholarship will provide Paige not only with financial support throughout her studies but also invaluable opportunities for professional development and mentoring.
