Boy arrested after Yarraville aggravated burglary

Police have arrested a boy after an aggravated burglary in Yarraville overnight.

It’s understood the male offender gained entry to the Mill Avenue home just after midnight.

Once inside, the offender grabbed the victim’s handbag and fled the scene.

A resident of the home located the boy nearby and detained him while the victim called triple zero (000).

Whilst police were on route to the home, the offender managed to escape the residents hold and took off on foot along Wembley Avenue.

Police located the man in a nearby address where he was subsequently arrested.

Neither of the victims were injured during the incident.

The 17-year-old Yarraville boy is currently assisting police with their enquires.
