Broadbeach Waters family help officers on Christmas Day

One Broadbeach Waters family will have an exciting Christmas story after loaning their jet ski to an officer who was following a man allegedly driving dangerously through the Gold Coast canals.

At about 6am police were notified of a man driving dangerously in a small boat through the waterways near Chevron Island.

Police followed the man from land along the waterways directing the man to come ashore with the man allegedly failing to comply.

The man drove into the Broadbeach Waters canal, where police spoke to a family who offered their jet ski to an officer.

The officer boarded the jet ski and followed the man to a nearby location where two other officers subsequently took him into custody.

Investigations are continuing in relation to his manner of driving.

Police would like to thank the family that helped officers on the day, a true Christmas gift.
