  • $3.8 million Lovegrove Sports Pavilion now open
  • Cook Government delivering for Pinjarra with $1.274 million contribution towards project
  • More than 550 local hockey and cricket club senior and junior members will benefit

The Cook Government has delivered for the Pinjarra community, with the official opening of the Lovegrove Sports Pavilion yesterday.

The $3.8 million facility includes a multi-function room, commercial kitchen, changerooms, equipment stores and a wraparound veranda, and was partially funded by the Cook Government through a $524,000 Lotterywest grant and $750,000 from the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund.

The new pavilion will benefit over 550 local cricket and hockey club senior and junior members – and with women’s changerooms it will be able to increase women’s participation in cricket and hockey sports.

Other funding was provided through the Commonwealth Government, Alcoa, Cricket Australia and the Shire of Murray.

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman:

“It gives me great pleasure to know that the State Government has contributed to this facility to help future generations of athletes in this region.

“And we’re committed to ensuring the right facilities, programs and events are in place in regional areas so that everyone has the opportunity to participate in sport and recreation activities.”

As stated by Murray-Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke:

“I’m so pleased to see this project completed. The Cook Government was a proud funding partner, contributing more than $1,274 million.

“This wonderful pavilion, which includes a multi-function room, commercial kitchen, changerooms, equipment stores and a wraparound veranda, will serve the community for many years to come.”
