Council Opens Community Financial Assistance Scheme

Devonport City Council Tasmania

Applications for Devonport City Council’s 2024 Community Financial Assistance Scheme are now open. The scheme is designed to provide essential financial support for a wide variety of new activities, initiatives, and programs that enhance the Devonport community.

Council remains dedicated in its commitment to supporting and enriching the local community. Through the Community Financial Assistance Scheme, Council aims to empower community organisations and groups in their efforts to make a positive and enduring impact on Devonport.

The Community Financial Assistance Scheme offers two main grant categories: Major and Minor grants.

“These grants are instrumental in driving projects that not only meet the immediate needs of our residents but also foster long-term community development and resilience,” said Mayor Alison Jarman.

“Our community groups are the backbone of Devonport. By supporting their initiatives, we are investing in a healthier, more connected, and dynamic future.”

Devonport City Council continues to promote community development, culture and heritage, economic development, sport and recreation, and healthy living and learning.

The scheme provides a diverse range of grants specifically tailored for not-for-profit community organisations and groups. These grants cover community projects, infrastructure initiatives, events, equipment purchases, individual development grants, and donations.

Applications for Major and Minor grants will be accepted from 1 July to 29 August 2024 at 5pm. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by October 2024, with funds being dispersed in the same month. The activity or project must be completed and reported on by December 2025.
