Criminal Groups Squad charge man with conspiracy to commit murder – Strike Force Newnham

A man will appear in court today charged by Criminal Groups Squad detectives over his alleged role in conspiring to murder another man in 2021.

In November 2019, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad established Strike Force Newnham to investigate the activities of alleged organised crime syndicates operating across Sydney.

Since that time, strike force detectives have made over 20 arrests, laid 90 charges, and seized numerous firearms, luxury jewellery, illicit drugs, more than $500,00 cash and over 20 high-performance vehicles to the value of $2.5 million.

As part of ongoing investigations into the alleged carjacking and conspiracy to murder a man in North Sydney in August 2021, detectives attended a Parklea correctional facility yesterday (Thursday 4 July 2024) and arrested a 24-year-old man.

He was charged with conspiracy to murder and participate in a criminal group.

Police will allege in court the 24-year-old man undertook surveillance activity on the man between October and November 2021, in an attempt to further locate him.

The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 5 July 2024).

Investigations under Strike force Newnham continue.
