Delivering Local Priorities In Dobell

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The Albanese Government is delivering local transport and community projects across Dobell, kickstarting a pipeline of new work.

During a visit to the NSW Central Coast on Wednesday, Federal Minister for Local Government, Kristy McBain MP joined Federal Member for Dobell, Emma McBride MP to highlight the impact of this funding boost.

Forty-six road projects are progressing across the Coast as part of a $40 million election commitment from local Labor MPs Emma McBride and Dr Gordon Reid.

This includes Rotherham Street at Bateau Bay, Alison Road at Wyong, and Dooralong Road at Lemon Tree – with upgrades making these roads safer for growing communities.

To improve road safety across the region, Central Coast Council will receive a further $24.3 million over the next five years through the Roads to Recovery (RTR) program.

Projects recently delivered through RTR include pothole and surface repairs along George Hely Crescent at Killarney Vale ($965,000), and surface improvements along Hue Hue Road at Jilliby ($470,000) – both projects fully funded by the Australian Government.

More than $4.3 million is also flowing to Central Coast Council under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) program.

As part of this, $751,000 in federal funding is being directed towards 12 local parks, including Apex Park Bateau Bay, Jubilee Oval Long Jetty, and Jack Gear Reserve Yarramalong – with works to kick off soon, and be completed by mid-2025.

The recent Federal Budget also delivered an additional $1.2 million toward upgrading the intersection of the Central Coast Highway and Tumbi Road, bringing our contribution to the project to $52.4 million.

The Australian and NSW governments are jointly investing $65.5 million to upgrade this bottleneck, to improve traffic flow and safety on the Central Coast Highway between Wamberal and Bateau Bay.

Quotes attributable to Federal Member for Dobell, Emma McBride MP:

“Whether it’s improvements to much loved parks, or upgrades to busy roads people use every day – I’m working hard on the projects that matter to locals.

“These works can only be delivered through the significant investment of the Albanese Government in the north of the Coast, making roads safer, and getting priority projects off the ground.”
