Delivering Local Priorities In Gladstone

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The Albanese Labor Government is partnering with Gladstone Regional Council to deliver high-priority local transport and community infrastructure projects across the Gladstone region.

Federal Minister for Local Government, Kristy McBain MP, was in town on Tuesday 7 May, with Mayor, Cr Matt Burnett to inspect local infrastructure projects.

Minister McBain and Cr Burnett visited Apex Park to view works funded by the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) program.

LRCI funding has assisted Gladstone City Council to improve road safety and upgrade community infrastructure, such as renewing and replacing the Apex Park retaining wall, made possible with $450,000 in Australian Government funding.

The Albanese Government is injecting more than $2.5 million in funding towards Gladstone Regional Council under Phase 4 of LRCI – which builds on a total commitment of $7.5 million.

Minister McBain and Cr Burnett also visited Dixon Drive to view completed works funded by the Australian Government’s Roads to Recovery program.

The Albanese Government is committed to partnering with councils to deliver local infrastructure projects and improve road safety.

As part of this, we have increased funding for roads programs. Roads to Recovery funding will progressively rise from $500 million to $1 billion per year, and Black Spot funding will increase from the current annual commitment of $110 million to $150 million per year.
