From Canvas To Road

Three of Southern’s newest Patient Transport Vehicles are out on the road with a new look.

Stemming from an idea from patient transport driver Phil Clements, the vehicles feature bright Aboriginal artwork.

“The vehicles feature Alison Simpson’s artwork, ‘Partnerships and Collaboration’, which won Southern’s Aboriginal artwork prize in 2016 and is widely displayed throughout our hospitals and health facilities,” said Shirlena Gallagher, Southern’s Manager Aboriginal Workforce and Development.

The version of the artwork used on the vehicles was adapted by Jessica Johnson of Nungala Creative for Southern’s previous Reconciliation Action Plan.

“Seeing the artwork on the vehicles is a wonderful reminder of Southern’s vision for reconciliation, and our acknowledgement of the traditional custodians of Country throughout our District,” added Shirlena.

Southern’s patient transport service assists people who require transport between health facilities but do not need a time-critical emergency ambulance.
