Girl hospitalised following single-vehicle crash in Smithfield

A 17-year-old girl has been taken to hospital with minor injuries after a single-vehicle crash in Sydney’s north west last night.

About 8.20pm on Friday 11 January 2019, emergency services were called to the corner of the Cumberland Highway and Percival Road, Smithfield, after reports of a crash.

Police have been told a Mitsubishi Lancer – carrying two females, aged 21 and 17 – lost control and left the road before colliding with a telegraph pole, causing severe damage to their vehicle.

The 21-year-old driver was uninjured, however was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for shock.

The 17-year-old passenger was also treated at the scene before being taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment to a fractured nose, where she remains in a stable condition.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
