Homes For Queenslanders: New Homes For Hope Vale On Way

  • Home construction is a partnership between the Hope Vale Aboriginal Shire Council and Miles Government
  • Part of Homes for Queenslanders commitment of 53,500 more social homes, including social homes for First Nations families

Eight new homes are under construction in Hope Vale in Queensland’s far north in a partnership between the Miles Government and local council.

The homes vary in size, with one five-bedroom, two four-bedroom, three three-bedroom and two two-bedroom detached homes for local residents.

Construction of these new homes is well under way with the final home to be finished by the end of the year.

As stated by Member for Cook Cynthia Lui:

“We have been working side by side with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander councils to unlock supply and provide more housing,.

“This community needs affordable and social housing – we can’t afford any LNP cuts to funding for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander councils.”

As stated by Minister for Housing, Local Government and Planning and Minister for Public Works Meaghan Scanlon:

“We know there’s demand for social and affordable housing in far north Queensland and that’s why we’re getting on with the job and delivering more homes.

“We’re building more homes and investing in the infrastructure needed to unlock even more housing supply for our remote and regional communities.”

“Our Homes for Queenslanders plan is a record investment in housing and we are determined to close the gap for First Nations peoples living in urban, regional and remote areas.”
