Iranian-born Man Charged With Two Visa Breaches

An Iranian-born man is set to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (24 June, 2024) charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated curfew conditions.

The AFP charged the man, 34, on 22 June, 2024, after he was initially arrested in Pendle Hill by NSW Police.

It will be alleged the man breached the conditions of his Commonwealth visa by failing to observe his residential curfew obligations.

The man has been charged with:

  • One count of failing to comply with a curfew condition, contrary to section 76C(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).
  • One count of failing to comply with electronic monitoring conditions contrary to Section 76D(3) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

These offences carry a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and a $93,900 fine for each offence.

The man appeared before Parramatta Local Court on 22 June 2024 and was remanded into custody to reappear today.
