Man charged after two cyclists seriously injured – Northern Beaches PAC

A man has been charged after two cyclists were seriously injured in Sydney’s Northern Beaches this morning.

About 6.10am today (Tuesday 4 June 2024), emergency services were called to Forest Way, Belrose, after reports of a crash involving two cyclists and a car.

Officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended along with NSW Ambulance paramedics, who treated both cyclists.

One cyclist – a 47-year-old man – was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.

The other cyclist – a 56-year-old man – was taken to the same hospital with serious injuries.

A crime scene was established, which was forensically examined by police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

The driver – a 24-year-old man – was uninjured, and underwent mandatory testing at a hospital before he was taken to Manly Police Station.

The man has since been charged with negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm) and cause bodily harm by misconduct in charge of motor vehicle.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Manly Local Court on Wednesday 24 July 2024.
