Man charged over domestic violence offences – Cessnock

A man will appear in court today charged with serious domestic violence offences relating to incidents alleged to have occurred earlier this year.

On Wednesday 5 June 2024, officers attached to the Hunter High Risk Domestic Violence Offender Team – with assistance from the Hunter Valley Police District – commenced inquiries to locate a 30-year-old man following reports of alleged domestic violence offences.

Following extensive inquiries, police arrested the 30-year-old man on Subiaco Avenue, Cessnock, about 12.20pm yesterday (Wednesday 3 July 2024).

He was taken to Cessnock Police Station and was charged with common assault, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic), drive motor vehicle menaces another with intent, armed with intent commit indictable offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others, destroy or damage property, and take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.

Police will allege in court the man assaulted and threatened a woman in separate incidents in May 2024.

The man was refused bail to appear before Cessnock Local Court today (Thursday 4 July 2024).
