  • Almost $52 million in grant funding to help manufacturers thrive in 2024-25 budget
  • CCW Cabinet Works encouraging manufacturers to take advantage of funding

A Miles Government MiQ grant will enable Stratford cabinetry manufacturer, CCW Cabinet Works, to purchase a Rover A CNC processing machine, Woodtech edgebander and panel saw to streamline productivity. The equipment will increase production, improve efficiency and grow overall capability and is estimated to add eight new full-time jobs over the next five years.

The adoption of this new equipment for CCW Cabinet Works has been made possible thanks to $155,568 in funding from the Queensland Government’s MiQ program.

More funding is now available to support Queensland manufacturers.

Queensland remains the place to be for manufacturing thanks to $52 million in new and existing grant programs that will invest in Queensland manufacturers, with new funding announced in the 2024-25 Queensland Budget.

The highly successful MiQ program has $20 million of new funding, taking the total investment for the MiQ program to $121.5 million. This funding will help small to medium manufacturers to increase international competitiveness, productivity and innovation via the adoption of new technologies, systems and processes and to generate high-skilled jobs for the future.

The Manufacturing Hubs Grant Program (MHGP) will welcome $5 million in new funding to help regional, small-to-medium sized manufacturers to become productive, build their advanced manufacturing capabilities and create the jobs of the future. Taking the total investment in MHGP to $33.5 million.

These grants have been provided to manufacturers in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Gladstone, Rockhampton, and Gold Coast regions, enabling them to become more productive and to build advanced manufacturing capabilities.

Manufacturing Minister Glenn Butcher visited the business today and said the company’s success demonstrates that the Miles Government’s commitment to the industry is paying dividends.

As stated by Minister for Regional Development and Manufacturing, Minister for Water, Glenn Butcher:

“Queensland’s manufacturers are the best in the country and are leading the world, and we know our investment will generate new jobs and a stronger economy.

“The Miles Government is committed to supporting more opportunities for more manufacturing businesses across our great state to do the same. That’s why we’re investing an additional $20 million in the Made in Queensland program through the State Budget.

“We know Queensland-made products are top-of-the-line and we want to ensure more regional Queensland manufacturers, like CCW, have the means to set themselves up for future growth and success.

“The LNP can’t be trusted to support manufacturers – when they were in government, they cut industry support programs, which resulted in thousands of job losses.”

As stated by Member for Barron River, Craig Crawford:

“This funding helps manufacturers take advantage of contemporary technologies to level up their operations and create new jobs – and CCW Cabinet Works is no different.

“I’m so pleased to see businesses in my electorate, like CCW, benefit from this cost of living measure – every piece of equipment we help fund, is vital relief for these manufacturers.”

As stated by CCW Cabinet Works Operations Manager, Royce Palmer:

“CCW has been operating for more than 30 years and is one of the largest cabinet makers in North Queensland. We manufacture joinery utilising locally trained staff and we know there is a bigger market for our products which we will find now that we have increased our capacity. We will continue to train and develop cabinet makers and alike here supporting our community as we have done now for many years and many more to come.

“The Made in Queensland grant is helping us to achieve our goals by upgrading our manufacturing equipment, upskilling our staff and adding new team members as our productivity increases.

“It’s great to see the Queensland Government continue to prioritise funding for regional manufacturers across the state, helping businesses like ours achieve even better results and future-proof their operations.”
