NSW Minister for Industry and Trade Anoulack Chanthivong is undertaking an 11-day trade mission to Southeast Asia, focussed on securing new investment and export opportunities.

The trade mission will progress the state’s trade and investment agenda, advance export opportunities for NSW businesses, and build people-to-people links across key ASEAN markets.

Supported by Investment NSW and Austrade, in the coming days the Minister will host roundtables and meet with business and government leaders in Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore, strengthening collaboration across food and beverage, health and medical technology, education, science and innovation.

The mission will open doors for NSW businesses through enhanced relationships with government and business leaders.

It will also provide the Minister with the opportunity to meet with leaders and businesses ahead of hosting the 50th Australian-ASEAN Business Forum in Sydney next month.

Taking in Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore across 1 – 12 July, the visit is the first overseas mission for Mr Chanthivong as Minister for Industry and Trade.

Minister for Industry and Trade Anoulack Chanthivong said:

“This is about putting NSW on the map in these rapidly expanding markets.

“Every new trade opportunity means new jobs and new opportunities for people in NSW.

“Visiting Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore reinforces NSW’s credentials as a trusted partner, accelerates market-entry for NSW businesses and promotes NSW’s capabilities.

“The mission aligns closely with the recommendations in Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, launched in October 2023.

“The Australian Government has clearly signalled Southeast Asia is central to the trade and investment diversification necessary for Australia’s future economic growth – and NSW is keen to play a leading part.

“My visit also underscores NSW’s commitment to strengthening trade and people to people links with the region.”
