Police Charge Man After Hospital Assault – Westmead

A man has been charged following an alleged assault in Sydney’s west.

About 11.30pm Friday, 21 June 2024, police were called to a hospital in Westmead following reports a man had assaulted staff.

On arrival, officers attached to Parramatta Police Area Command were told a 39-year-old man had assaulted three male security guards, aged 24, 25 and 31.

The 24-year-old security guard sustained a laceration to his wrist, while the 25-year-old security guard sustained a laceration to his neck.

The 31-year-old security guard suffered a dislocated shoulder.

A 29-year-old male hospital employee also sustained minor injuries.

The 39-year-old man remained in hospital under police guard for some time before he was arrested and taken to Parramatta Police Station.

He was charged with five offences including two counts of assault frontline health worker – actual bodily harm, assault frontline health worker – no actual bodily harm, common assault and use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention etc.

The 39-year-old was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Sunday 23 June 2024).
