Police Charge Man After Shooting At Tamworth

A man will appear in court tomorrow charged after another man was allegedly shot at Tamworth this morning.

About 3am (Sunday 19 May 2024), emergency services were called to Warral Road, West Tamworth, following reports a man was injured.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District arrived to find a 43-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound to his back.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Tamworth Hospital in a stable condition.

Police established a crime scene and detectives commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, a 52-year-old man was arrested leaving a home on Warral Road, about 10am.

He was taken Tamworth Police Station and charged with shoot at with intent to murder and possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority.

The man was refused bail to appear at the Tamworth Local Court tomorrow (Monday 20 May 2024).
