Police Charge Man Over Domestic Violence – Punchbowl

A man will face court following a domestic violence incident in Sydney’s south-west.

About 9.50pm on Sunday (30 June 2024), emergency services were called to an address on Victoria Road, Punchbowl, following reports of a domestic incident.

On arrival, police were told a woman – in her 40s – was allegedly threatened by a man with a knife inside the home before fleeing the scene.

There were no injuries reported due to the incident.

A crime scene has been established and officers attached to Campsie Police Area Command – with assistance from the PolAir, Dog Unit and South West Metro Operational Support Group – conducted a search in the surrounding area.

Following inquiries, the 26-year-old man was arrested nearby.

He was taken to Canterbury Hospital for treatment under police guard.

He was later taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with destroy or damage property, affray, use etc offensive weapon with intention to commit indictable offence, two counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm, and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

He was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Monday 1 July 2024), where he was granted conditional bail to reappear at the same court on Wednesday (17 July 2024).
