Police Charge Man Over Fatal Crash In Launceston

A 24-year-old man from Carrick has been charged with several serious offences, including manslaughter, following an extensive investigation into a fatal crash which occurred in Launceston on Thursday 12 October 2023.

The crash, which occurred at the intersection of Margaret and Frederick streets, resulted in the death of a 26-year-old man from Trevallyn and significant injury to a 46-year-old man from Scottsdale.

Yesterday, police arrested and charged the 24-year-old driver with the following offences:

  • Manslaughter
  • Cause grievous bodily harm
  • Cause the death of another by negligent driving
  • Cause grievous bodily harm to another person by negligent driving

The man will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Wednesday 10 July 2024.
