Police Officer Charged – North West Metropolitan Region 21 June

An off-duty police officer has been charged with mid-range drink driving after being stopped for a random breath test in Penrith today.

Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting random breath testing on Mulgoa Road about 12.20am (Friday 21 June 2024), when they stopped a Suzuki utility.

The driver – a 25-year-old man – was subjected to a roadside breath test, which allegedly returned with a positive result.

The man – who is a Senior Constable attached to North West Metropolitan Region – was arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station, where he underwent a breath analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.143.

He was issued a Court Attendance Notice for mid-range PCA – 1st offence and is due to appear at Penrith Local Court on Thursday 1 August 2024.

His licence was suspended and employment status is currently under review.
