Police Update 2: Homicide Investigation in Mighell, QLD

Detectives have charged a 51-year-old Mighell man with further offences following the alleged domestic violence murder of a 51-year-old woman near Innisfail on June 28.

It will be alleged an altercation occurred at a Mighell property around 4.15pm where the woman sustained a fatal stab wound.

The man allegedly left the scene in a vehicle and was arrested on the Bruce Highway at Sandy Pocket just after 6pm.

On July 1, he was charged with two counts of unlawful entry of a vehicle for committing indictable offence used/threatened violence, and one count each of wilful damage and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

He remains in custody and is due to reappear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today, July 2.

Investigations are continuing.
