Police Update: Arrest – Hit And Run In Darwin

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man in relation to a hit and run death in Coconut Gove overnight.

The man was arrested after handing himself in to detectives at Darwin Police Station this afternoon.

His vehicle was located on Woods Street and declared a crime scene while Major Crash detectives and Forensic crime scene examination officers inspected the vehicle. It has since been seized by police.

The man remains in police custody and is expected to be charged later tonight.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said, “We thank the public for assisting police by providing information and CCTV.

“The investigation remains in its early stages and we continue to urge anyone with information to contact us on 131 444.

“It is a lawful requirement of all drivers to stop and help after a crash and report to police. If you flee a crash scene, you will be caught.”
