Police Update: Fatal Traffic Crashin Brisbane City

Police have charged a man following a fatal bus and pedestrian traffic crash which occurred in Brisbane City on March 8, 2024.

It will be alleged just after 5pm, a bus was travelling along Edward Street before it left the road and struck an 18-year-old female pedestrian before colliding with a nearby building.

Emergency services arrived at the scene a short time later, where the 18-year-old Hemmant woman was declared deceased.

The driver of the bus and four passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital for assessment.

Following extensive investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit, a 70-year-old Underwood man has been issued a notice to appear on one count of careless driving causing death.

He is expected to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 26.
