Raptor Squad officers charge driver after alleged high speed pursuit – Mt Druitt

Raptor Squad officers have charged a man after he allegedly fled from police reaching speeds of 150km/h overnight in Mt Druitt.

About 11.40pm yesterday (Thursday 28 June 2024), officers attached to State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad directed a Ford hatchback to stop on Luxford Road, Shalvey.

The driver of the Ford pulled over on the side of the road, however when officers approached the vehicle the driver allegedly drove off.

Raptor Squad officers initiated a pursuit, with the Ford allegedly reaching speeds of 150km/h in a signposted 50km/h zone.

During the pursuit, the driver allegedly exited the vehicle while it was still moving on Ballymena Street, Hebersham, and attempted to flee the scene.

Due to the speed the Ford was moving it crashed into a nearby property damaging fencing.

The driver, a 41-year-old man, was arrested nearby and taken to Mt Druitt Police Station before being taken to Nepean Hospital for precautionary reasons.

Police charged the man with police pursuit not stop and drive at speed, drive whilst suspended and breach of bail.

He was refused bail to appear before Mt Druitt Local Court today (Friday 28 June 2024).
