The located remains of a man reported missing earlier this year have been formally identified.
A 52-year-old man who was last seen in Lilyfield at 9.30am on Sunday 17 March 2024 was reported missing to officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command who commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.
About 2.30pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024 a member of the public contacted police after locating human remains inside the Blue Mountains National Park.
Officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the matter.
Today (Tuesday 2 July 2024), the remains were confirmed to be that of the missing man.
There are no suspicious circumstances, and a report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
