Reminder: No Access To Banna Lane From Kookora Street

As work on Yambil Street Stage 4 progresses, several near misses involving motorists driving the wrong way down Banna Lane have been reported.

To address this safety concern, Council reminds drivers that traffic direction on Banna Lane between Daines Street and Kookora Street remains one-way (westbound only) therefore access to that section of Banna Lane from Kookora Street is prohibited.

To further highlight the restriction, additional No Entry signage has been installed to guide motorists.

Council’s Development and Traffic Coordinator, Greg Balind emphasised the potential danger of ignoring these signs.

“Driving the wrong way down Banna Lane poses a significant risk to motorists, construction workers and business/property owners with access to the lane,” Mr Balind said.

“For your safety and the safety of others, please follow all posted directions.”

Motorists should be aware that penalties for driving contrary to a No Entry sign exceed $300 and carry 2 demerit points for non-compliance.
