Renowned Australian artist’s exhibition starting next week

  • Three-month Rone art exhibition starts next Monday, 1 July
  • TIME RONE is exclusive to Perth in 2024
  • Expected to attract over 100,000 people to the Art Gallery of Western Australia
  • Supported by the Western Australian Government

Perth will next week welcome an immersive art exhibition by acclaimed street artist Rone in the latest cultural event supported by the Western Australian Government.

Taking place at the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) until Monday, 30 September, Rone will bring his TIME installation to Perth and AGWA’s historical Centenary Galleries, following his sellout and highly successful installation at Flinders Street Station in Melbourne.

The Perth exhibition will also have a new room and murals exclusively for local audiences.

It will be the first time both floors of the Centenary Galleries will be open in almost 20 years.

This exhibition will be Rone’s only showcase in 2024, expected to attract over 100,000 patrons to AGWA.

The immersive art exhibition will take over 12 rooms at AGWA, across both floors in the historic Centenary Galleries building.

Part immersive art installation and sensory engagement, TIME RONE will also include immersive dinners, a RONE store and a fully designed RONE-inspired bar space where visitors can linger amongst the art and dive into the RONE experience through several imaginative offerings.

The TIME RONE exhibition creates a new experience and will contribute to Western Australia’s always-on, year-round calendar of diverse events, adding vibrancy in the winter months and giving visitors a reason to extend their stay in Perth.

Incredibly, TIME has taken more than three years to create, and several months to be installed at AGWA.

Rone will also be creating an external mural on the AGWA Centenary Galleries building as part of his Perth stay.

As stated by Acting Tourism Minister John Carey:

“This is shaping up to be a must-see attraction this winter, with this exhibition being another drawcard for our year-round events calendar.

“Having these types of events is great for our community, drawing people into our CBD and helping to create vibrancy and atmosphere.

“With the mid-year school holidays just around the corner, it’s definitely one families should be putting on the list of activities to do – it’s going to be brilliant.

“With the Rone exhibition plus other fantastic events like EverNow and RE//Perth coming up, it shows the Cook Government is leading the charge when it comes to events and driving visitation into our city.”

As stated by Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman:

“The Cook Government is so proud to be bringing world-renowned artist Rone exclusively to Western Australia, which is enormous for our arts and culture industry as well as our broader community.

“This is an iconic project for Western Australia and a highly-anticipated exhibition for AGWA’s Centenary Galleries.

“The TIME RONE exhibition adds to the growing list of new culture and arts events, such as RE//Perth and EverNow, and will be hosted within Perth’s premiere cultural precinct.

“It is great to see acclaimed artist Rone bring this popular immersive exhibition to Perth, and this is a wonderful opportunity to utilise and showcase State-owned infrastructure: the Art Gallery of Western Australia.”
