Robbery & Serious Crime Squad detectives have arrested two men over their alleged involvement in an armed robbery at a jewellery story on Sydney’s Lower North Shore.

About 3.30pm on Thursday 28 March 2024, emergency services were called to a business at Birdwood Lane in Lane Cove, following reports of an armed robbery.

On arrival, officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command were told two males wearing dark clothing and face coverings – one carrying a firearm – had entered the business and threatened staff before taking an item.

It is believed the males fled in a silver Holden Commodore, bearing Victoria registration plates 1IH 8XX.

Detectives believe that car was being driven by another unknown man and was seen in driving in convoy with a silver Mercedes.

Local police established a crime scene and commenced initial inquiries into the incident before the matter was taken carriage of by State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad under Strike Force Larama.

Following extensive inquiries, including a public appeal for information, about 6.45am today (Tuesday 7 May 2024), strike force detectives – with assistance from the Tactical Operations Unit – executed a search warrant in Summer Hill.

At the address, detectives arrested two men – aged 44 and 60 – who were taken to Newtown Police Station where they are expected to be charged with their involvement in the alleged armed robbery.
