Serious traffic crash at Helensvale, QLD

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following a serious three-vehicle traffic crash on the Pacific Motorway at Helensvale today, June 7.

Initial information indicates at approximately 1.20pm, a police vehicle was stopped on the side of the motorway performing traffic duties.

The police car was then struck from behind by a Mitsubishi Triton.

The 55-year-old male police officer, the 54-year-old female driver and a two-year-old passenger of the Mitsubishi were transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the third vehicle, who had stopped to offer assistance, was not injured.
