Sex Crimes Squad detectives charge Warilla man following investigation into bestiality

Sex Crimes Squad detectives have charged a man with allegedly transmitting and possessing child abuse and bestiality material under Strike Force Trawler.

Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by Sex Crimes Squad’s Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.

In May 2024, detectives identified an online user allegedly sharing and distributing child abuse and bestiality material online.

Following extensive investigations detectives executed a search warrant on a Warilla home this morning (Thursday 4 July 2024).

During the search strike force detectives seized electronic devices and arrested a 30-year-old man at the home.

He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with use carriage service transmit/publish/promote child abuse material, use carriage service to solicit child abuse material, possess/control child abuse material use carriage service, person disseminates bestiality material and person possess bestiality material.

The man was refused bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court today.

Investigations under Strike Force Trawler continue.
