Six boys charged after alleged stolen vehicle driven at speed throughout western suburbs

Westgate Alliance Taskforce officers have charged six boys, after its alleged that a stolen vehicle was caught speeding erratically throughout the western suburbs last night.

It is alleged that police observed a stolen white Mazda 6 sedan driving erratically and at a fast rate of speed in the vicinity of Fresco Way, Tarneit about 9.30pm.

Shortly after, officers allege that the Mazda was seen speeding through a red light on Hummingbird Boulevard, Tarneit.

With the assistance of Airwing, the Mazda was allegedly seen reaching speeds exceeding 150kms per hour in a 60km zone.

Police kept their distance and allegedly observed the Mazda involved in a near miss with a pedestrian, in the vicinity of Thames Boulevard.

It is alleged that the occupants of the Mazda were seen dumping the vehicle near Fragrance Terrace in Manor Lakes, before taking off from the scene on foot.

A short time later police arrested seven boys, all in the vicinity of Fragrance Terrace.

There were no injuries.

Police allege that the Mazda was stolen from a Truganina address earlier this month.

Three 16-year-old Tarneit boys, a 17-year-old Tarneit boy, a 16-year-old Truganina boy and a 16-year-old Hoppers Crossing boy were all charged with theft of a motor vehicle and various traffic offences.

The six boys were bailed to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

A seventh boy, a 16-year-old from Truganina, was issued with a caution.
