Solar ScaleUp Challenge Now Live

Dept of Climate Change, Energy, Environment & Water

The Australian Government is investing up to $100 million to cut costs and grow the Australian solar industry.

Through the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), the government is launching the Solar ScaleUp Challenge to stimulate innovation in solar farm deployment and operation.

The challenge will be open for 8 weeks and invites people from across the community to take part, including:

  • innovators
  • customers
  • financiers
  • solar construction, operation and maintenance professionals.

Participants can submit their ideas and projects through an online innovation platform. If shortlisted, participants could gain access to grants from the funding pool.

This funding will allow them to further develop their projects, contributing to our goals of:

  • lowering solar project installation costs to 30 cents per watt
  • reducing electricity costs to below $20 per megawatt-hour by 2030.

Ultra-low-cost solar is important in achieving cheaper, cleaner energy.
