Sungkyunkwan University President Ji-Beom Yoo visits Tokyo Tech

President Ji-Beom Yoo of Sungkyunkwan University, together with his delegation, paid a visit to Tokyo Tech on April 10. The representatives of the South Korean university, which has an institutional-level agreement with Tokyo Tech, were welcomed on Ookayama Campus by President Kazuya Masu, Executive Vice President for Institute Strategy and Provost Isao Satoh, Vice President for International Affairs Nobuhiro Hayashi, Senior Aide to the Executive Vice President for Institute Strategy Noriko Ito, and other members of the Institute.

During the fruitful meeting, the visitors expressed strong expectations for Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo), the new university that will be born in October 2024 through the merger between Tokyo Medical and Dental University and Tokyo Tech. While highlighting an increasing trend in medicine-engineering collaborations in South Korea, the delegation discussed with their Tokyo Tech counterparts potential collaborations in terms of both research and student exchange.

With its origins dating back to 1398, Sungkyunkwan University is said to be one of the oldest educational institutions in East Asia. A highly regarded university supported by the Samsung Group, Sungkyunkwan University is constantly taking on new challenges to lead innovation.

Tokyo Tech concluded an institutional-level agreement with Sungkyunkwan University in 2008.
