Supporting local businesses means cutting red tape and providing tangible support through a variety of tailored programs.

“The Gold Coast is the small business capital of Australia. For the last 12 years we have backed local business and this budget is no different,” said Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate.

“Today, our city’s Gross Revenue Product (GRP) has continued to grow to more than $41 billion (compared to $30 billion in 2010- 11). We are now home to 78,000 registered businesses, employing over 383,500 Gold Coasters.

“In 2024-25, we will continue to support our business attraction and retention programs to grow our economy and create new opportunities.

“We have become the Asia Pacific region’s hub for film and television and this budget will provide further incentives in that industry sector.

“Our diversified economy not only includes the screen industry, but marine, health and knowledge, advanced manufacturing, arts and culture and business services.”

Mayor Tate said the 2023-24 City Budget builds on the ‘open for business’ mantra of the last 12 years.

“The challenge was to ensure that young Gold Coasters didn’t need to move away to pursue their dreams, and our diversified economy now provides a wide range of employment options, right here.”
