The Mik Maks to Perform Show “Written For” Our Community at Ararat Town Hall

Born and bred in Ararat but adored internationally and across the internet, family band The Mik Maks will be coming home for a one-off performance at Ararat Town Hall next week – and this show promises to be particularly special.

“The Big Show is a one-off experience specifically written for our homegrown Ararat and district fanbase,” says the band’s frontman Joel, who performs alongside his brother Al, 16-year-old daughter Ava, and talented mascot Drums the Panda (who also creates all the hand-drawn animations on the group’s enormously popular YouTube channel).

The brothers grew up in Wickliffe and were classroom teachers for 15 years before deciding to go full-time with The Mik Maks. They’ve been very successful, with tracks such as Farm Animal Rescue (from their Acts of Kindness Songs series) sitting at four million views on YouTube, and other songs up near the 40 million mark.

They also run two separate channels which present their songs in Indonesian and Spanish.

Initially inspired by their own children, the brothers now derive their material from performing live, meeting their fans, and observations of the world around them. Their early 2023 album Songs to Help us Grow was influenced by out of the COVID-19 pandemic, and comprises tracks which encourage a positive mindset and self-development.

The Mik Maks’ Big Show will run for just under an hour, and fans will have the opportunity to meet the band after the performance.
