Townsville grassroot ‘creatives’ urged to have their say

Townsville’s creative minds are being called on to contribute to the city’s new arts and culture plan.

Chair of Council’s Arts and Culture Advisory Committee, Cr Liam Mooney said the new plan will be crucial in developing and supporting an environment in which creativity can thrive.

“Townsville has a strong creative arts community spanning many forms and disciplines.

“We’ve launched a survey through Council’s Have Your Say platform to capture the ideas and insights of the broader, grassroots creative community, to be able to better understand the opportunities and challenges faced by creative individuals and businesses,” Cr Mooney said.

A key objective of the plan will be to set goals and actions which will drive the growth of the arts and culture sector as an important enabler to improving the city’s liveability.

“A city which has a thriving arts and culture sector is a city people want to live and visit.

“This is important as Council seeks to grow Townsville and future-proof the city,” Cr Mooney said.

The survey is open to anyone with an interest in the city’s arts and culture sector, with input sought on potential strategies and initiatives to enhance collaboration, innovation, and sustainability within the creative industries sector.
