From July, we will be transitioning to new contractors for various maintenance services in our community.
We kindly ask for your patience and understanding as these new contractors settle in. During this period, there may be some minor disruptions, but rest assured, we are committed to ensuring a smooth transition.
The new contracts bring a range of benefits that will enhance our community infrastructure and services over time. Some of the key improvements include:
  • Reduced timeframes for initial customer responses and improved communication on scheduled work.
  • New road maintenance activities addressing prior service gaps.
  • An improved road rehabilitation program with increased and better-directed investment.
  • Proactive inspections and maintenance of netball courts and bike parks.
  • Installation and maintenance of accessible beach matting.
  • Enhanced expertise in sports field management and arboriculture.
  • Improved monitoring of work quality and timeliness.
  • A 12-month trial of hand-only beach cleaning starting 1 July.
  • Carbon-neutral service delivery by contractors.
  • Use of 10,000 tonnes of recycled content in road works.
  • Better emergency response processes.
This is all part of our newly reshaped maintenance delivery model, aiming to manage $2.3 billion worth of community assets more effectively and efficiently. These assets help:
  • People to move around efficiently and safely via roads, footpaths, cycle facilities and infrastructure supporting public transport provision.
  • Provide spaces for our community to play sport and relax.
  • To preserve and enjoy a diverse range of natural environments across the Peninsula.
  • Enable the Shire to provide great services, like libraries and youth support to our community.
