Two injured after being hit by a van at Ballina, NSW

Two people have been injured – one seriously – after they were hit by a van at Ballina this morning.

The crash occurred around 8.10am (Friday 18 January 2019), when a man and woman walking along Suvla Street towards Shelly Beach Road, were struck by a Kia Carnival.

The 65-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and was conveyed to Gold Coast Hospital for further treatment.

The man, who is believed to be in his 60s, was taken to a local hospital after sustaining minor injuries.

A 27-year-old woman driving the Carnival returned a negative roadside breath test.

She has been taken to Lismore Base Hospital for assessment and further tests.
