UPDATED – Pedestrian dies following fail to stop crash – Mount Druitt PAC

An investigation is underway after a pedestrian died following a fail to stop crash in Sydney’s west overnight.

About 11.20pm (Sunday 30 June 2024), emergency services were called to Abell Road, Melonba, after reports an injured man was located roadside.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 79-year-old man, however, he died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

Officers attached to Mount Druitt Police Area Command established a crime scene which was forensically examined by specialist officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit.

Initial inquiries indicate that the pedestrian was hit by a car – believed to be a purple/blue coloured coupe – travelling eastbound on Abell Road.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
