Victoria University community recognised with King’s Birthday Honours

Victoria University is proud to announce that the hard work and dedication of our alumni and supporters have been recognised in the King’s Birthday 2024 Honours List.

The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adam Shoemaker, praised the honourees, highlighting their alignment with the University’s mission to make a positive impact in the community.

“It is incredibly inspiring to witness the profound influence the VU community has across Australia in various significant fields. Each recipient’s notable contributions and their recognition at this prestigious level are a testament to their remarkable initiative and generosity,” Professor Shoemaker remarked.

Congratulations go to the following individuals for receiving King’s Birthday Honours List recognition:

Alumni

Mr Bachar El Haouli, Bachelor of Arts (Sports administration) (2007) – Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to the Islamic community, to multiculturalism, and to Australian rules football.

Partnering organisations

Denise Anne Heinjus – Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to nursing.

VU’s Chief Advancement Officer, Patrice O’Brien, echoed these sentiments, stating:

Our alumni and partners continue to make a lasting impact on people, place and planet. It’s wonderful to see this community spirit recognised within Australian society, and we’re exceptionally proud of this year’s award recipients.
