WA’s first non-stop Singapore to Broome service takes off

  • Jetstar Asia’s new non-stop seasonal flight between Singapore and Broome landed today
  • Route marks a new international gateway into regional Western Australia
  • Supported by the Western Australian Government in partnership with Broome International Airport

Western Australia’s first non-stop seasonal service between Singapore and Broome launched today, marking the first international route to fly directly into regional WA since the State’s borders reopened.

Operating on an Airbus A320 aircraft twice weekly from 25 June until 26 October 2024, Jetstar Asia’s seasonal service will bring almost 6,500 inbound seats to Broome in its first year and reduce travel time between the two destinations by over five hours.

Singapore is one of Western Australia’s closest international neighbours and the State’s second-largest international visitor market, with over 88,000 visitors arriving in WA from Singapore in the year ending December 2023.

Existing aviation networks via Singapore’s international transport hub, Singapore’s Changi Airport, provide increased connectivity between Australia’s north west and the world.

The new service is supported by the Western Australian Government’s $75 million Aviation Recovery Fund, in collaboration with Broome International Airport.

The Western Australian Government has secured or resumed non-stop services from 20 global destinations since borders re-opened.

This is also the second new non-stop aviation connection into regional WA launched this year, after Jetstar’s Sydney to Busselton interstate service launched in March.

As stated by Acting Tourism Minister John Carey:

“The launch of today’s flight marks a significant leap forward in expanding Western Australia’s aviation capacity, and we are very excited to provide international visitors with direct access to our diverse north west region, and an entirely new gateway into our State.

“This Singapore to Broome service presents an incredible opportunity to turbocharge international visitor numbers to our north west, and inject millions into the region’s accommodation, hospitality, and tourism businesses.

“This new international entry point into WA will also provide new itinerary options for overseas visitors from around the world through Singapore’s Changi Airport as a major global hub, to help transform how visitors explore our magnificent State.”

As stated by Kimberley MLA Divina D’Anna:

“The launch of the new seasonal direct service between Broome and Singapore will provide so much opportunity for the Kimberley tourism market, and it’s also exciting for our mob to go out for holidays.

“Connecting the Kimberley direct to South East Asia will potentially bring in thousands of new visitors – including those who will now see Broome as first stop on trips from Singapore.”
